LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, a New Castle, Pa. man accused of stealing an ATV two years ago was recently sentenced to 15 months in prison.

Cortez L. Hammonds, 35, New Castle, Pa., pleaded guilty to burglary, a fourth-degree felony, after being indicted on a third-degree felony burglary count. Hammonds broke into a property owned by Brad Wilson on Conner Drive, East Palestine, on March 30, 2020, taking a Suzuki King Quad ATV which was later posted for sale on Craigslist. He received credit for 104 days served in jail, but his attorney filed a motion Wednesday requesting credit for an additional 19 days that remains pending.

Also in Common Pleas Court,

— Dustin M. Dorff, 31, East Lake Road, Lisbon, was ordered to serve a total of 12 months in prison for charges of burglary, a third-degree felony, and petty theft, a misdemeanor, for trespassing in an occupied structure on Aug. 10, 2021 and stealing an air compressor, and a probation violation for illegal possession or control of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordinance in a courthouse for bringing a set of brass knuckles through security at the county Municipal Court on Oct. 17, 2019. Consecutive to that sentence, he was placed on community control for four years and ordered to serve six months at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center for aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, for having methamphetamines on Jan. 29, 2021, and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for having methamphetamine on Jan. 6, 2021.

— Daniel Keller, 31, Richardson Avenue, Negley, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with credit for 83 days served in jail, for failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony. His license was suspended for three years. Keller fled from police at Beaver Creek state campground on May 3, reaching speeds over 90 mph, passing several vehicles and crashing into an embankment.

— Kenneth J. Smart, 45, Lyndora, Pa., was sentenced to nine months in prison for attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony; and importuning and aggravated possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies, with credit for nine days served in jail. Between May 25, 2021 and June 9, 2021, Smart attempted to arrange for sexual conduct with someone he believed to be 13 or older, but less than 16 years old, who was actually a law enforcement officer. On June 9, 2021, he attempted to meet that person and had methamphetamines in his possession.

— Bruce J. Crawford, 33, Garrettsville, was sentenced to nine months in prison for attempted compelling prostitution, a fourth-degree felony, after setting up an arrangement to meet a law enforcement officer posing as a child on June 17, 2021. He received credit for one day served in jail.

— Jamie P. Tice Jr., 21, East Sixth Street, Salem, was ordered to serve 400 days in prison, with credit for 383 days served, after his probation for aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony lesser offense, was revoked. The charge was for causing serious physical harm to his mother, Kristie Tice, on March 8, 2021.

— Charles A. Shasteen Jr., 44, U.S. Route 30, Kensington, was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, leaving 30 days to serve after pleading guilty to two counts of cruelty to animals, one a fifth-degree felony, and the other a misdemeanor. Shasteen caused serious harm to an animal by negligently depriving it with wholesome food and water while in his care on April 4, 2021.

— Samantha Moore, 32, Shadyside Road, East Liverpool, was placed on a treatment plan for three years after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Jan. 7, 2021.

— Thomas Akers, 33, St. George Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 346 day in jail after his probation for possession of cocaine on Jan. 2, 2019 was dishonorably terminated. The jail term is to be served concurrent with another case.

— A defense motion to reduce sentence was denied for Eric Ream, 45, Baum Street, East Liverpool, on charges of obstructing justice and aggravated possession of drugs. He had been sentenced to 180 days in jail for a probation violation, with credit for 46 days served. The court found that he was not amenable to rehabilitation and that probation would demean the seriousness of the offense. The charges stemmed from his possession of methamphetamine and interfering with an investigation by doing something to his phone on March 22, 2019.

— A motion for early release was denied for Aaron Walter, 28, last known address Lisbon, who was sentenced to 120 days in jail, with credit for 18 days served, for a probation violation on a charge of domestic violence stemmed from his attempt to harm someone on May 12, 2020.

— Sentencing was set Sept. 30 for Daniel Mathes, 30, state Route 154, Rogers, who pleaded guilty to grand theft of a motor vehicle for stealing a vehicle on May 28, 2021.

— Sentencing was set Dec. 16 for Madelyn Hairston, 35, North Street, Beloit, who pleaded guilty to improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle for an incident Dec. 13, 2021.

— John Kearns, 42, Depot Street, Rogers, was placed on an intervention program for 24 months after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs for possessing methamphetamine on Aug. 13, 2020.

— Michael Miller, 27, Salem Alliance Road, Salem, was placed on community control for 24 months for domestic violence, with 180 days in jail, 177 days suspended and credit for three days served, for attempting to harm a woman on Aug. 5, 2021.

— Shannon Schnelle, 34, West North Street, East Palestine, was placed on probation for three years for illegal use of supplemental nutrition assistance benefits or WIC program benefits, with credit for one day served in jail. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $13,012. The charge stemmed from July 23, 2018 through June 30, 2020.
